Alli is a new FDA approved diet and weight loss pill from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) that will be released this spring. It is the OTC (Over the Counter) version of the popular drug Xenical.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) officially approved the drug orlistat with 60 mg capsules on February 7, 2007, for over-the-counter marketing as a weight loss aid. The Alli product is to be used with an approved weight loss program that includes a reduced calorie diet, low fat diet plan, and an exercise program. It is approved for use in adults 18 years and older.
Alli is scheduled to be released in the 2007 Summer as the first FDA approved diet pill to be sold in the US to help promote weight loss. The Alli diet pill is going to be part of an overall health system, which includes healthy nutrition, exercise, and the Alli diet supplement product. A multivitamin should be taken every day when alli is used as part of a weight loss program.
